Volunteers Needed: Remove Invasive Woody Plants at Scandia’s Liten Park Workers

When: Saturday April 20, 9:00- noon
Where: Liten Park (near Hay Lake)

Friends of Scandia Parks and Trails (FSPT) will lead this event, which is the first step in creating a pollinator planting at this 5-acre park.

Volunteers will be cutting and treating the stumps of common buckthorn and Tatarian honeysuckle that are along the edges of the grassland at at the park. These shrubs are invasive and can take over natural areas. Volunteers will also haul the brush out to the roadside edge for later pick up. 

FSPT will provide all instructions and training but we ask Volunteers to bring the following, if possible: Loppers and Handsaws, Work gloves, Safety glasses, Drinking water.

Directions to the park and additional details will be provided to registrants.

Space is limited and registration is required, so please sign up early! Youth must be at least 15 years old and accompanied by an adult.
